Endorsed by Former Elected Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney

I am pleased to endorse Callan Martinez for Prosecuting Attorney for Douglas County. My background includes more than three decades in criminal practice—half as a prosecutor, half as defense counsel—and service as an elected prosecuting attorney. In that time, I have seen what separates a capable prosecutor from an exceptional one. Callan is exceptional.

Callan brings eight years of frontline experience, handling complex criminal matters with intelligence, tenacity, and sound judgment. Equally important, she has meaningful civil litigation experience—an often overlooked but critical component of the prosecuting attorney’s responsibilities.

I first met Callan when I was practicing felony defense. Even across the aisle, her strengths were unmistakable: disciplined preparation, strong courtroom presence, and a seriousness    about the work that never wavered. Later, I had the opportunity to work alongside her in the protection of abused and neglected children and vulnerable adults. In that role, she demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and clarity of purpose.  

At the heart of the prosecuting attorney’s role is the duty to do justice—to exercise authority with integrity, restraint, and fidelity to the law. Callan embodies that duty. She approaches decisions with care, evaluates cases thoroughly, and understands the weight of the office.  

Callan also brings a practical understanding of the realities facing a small county. Callan is thoughtful about resource management and committed to responsible, efficient use of limited public funds. Her approach reflects both fiscal discipline and respect for the community she serves.  

Based on my experience, I am certain Callan will ably protect the interests of the citizens of Douglas County as their prosecuting Attorney. She is prepared, principled, and ready for the responsibilities of the role.
