Callan Martinez, who has served as a Senior Prosecuting Attorney for five years, is announcing her write-in campaign for Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney after filing as a candidate on September 21, 2026. Martinez, who was prosecuting the Chelan Hills Fire case, recently resigned from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to run her campaign as the election approaches.
Martinez’s campaign will prioritize the prosecution of violent and repeat offenders, crimes against children, and drug-related offenses that threaten the safety and stability of Douglas County communities. Throughout her career, Martinez has worked closely with law enforcement and will continue to collaborate with law enforcement, victims, and community partners to address the challenges contributing to repeat crime while ensuring every case is handled fairly and in accordance with the Constitution.
Martinez is currently endorsed by retired Chelan County Superior Court Judge Lesley Allan, along with former Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Haas, and outgoing Douglas County Prosecutor Sean Lewis.
“Callan Martinez has the experience to lead this office effectively and with integrity. I support her, and I urge our community members to write her name on the ballot this election,” said Hon. Judge Allan.
Haas has more than 30 years of criminal trial and appellate experience, including service as an elected prosecuting attorney and time as a criminal defense attorney. He first encountered Martinez during his felony defense practice and later worked alongside her on cases involving abused and neglected children and vulnerable adults.
“Callan brings eight years of frontline experience, handling complex criminal matters with intelligence, tenacity, and sound judgment,” Haas said. “She approaches decisions with care, evaluates cases thoroughly, and understands the weight of the office.”
Sean Lewis is currently the only name on the General Election ballot. However, he had to unexpectedly end his campaign due to health concerns. Any votes for Sean Lewis will not count; therefore, Callan Martinez is running as a write-in candidate so that voters can speak their minds in this election. One other individual has also filed as a write-in candidate for this position. “I have seen Callan in action, and she doesn’t back down to defense attorneys. She understands the criminal justice system and has what it takes to lead a successful Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. I look forward to writing her name on my ballot this election,” Lewis said.
If elected, Martinez will work to ensure the office uses its authority responsibly, prioritizes serious threats to public safety, and seeks justice for victims. She is committed to a prosecutor’s office that is tough on crime while using taxpayer resources in ways that actually make communities safer.
“I have spent the majority of my career as a prosecutor, and I know the responsibility that comes with this office,” said Martinez. “Douglas County deserves a Prosecuting Attorney who knows the job, understands the realities facing our communities, and is committed to keeping families safe while upholding the Constitution. I am running because I believe I can provide that leadership and serve this community well.” Callan Martinez will hit the ground running and waste no time to serve the people of Douglas County.
Douglas County ballots will be mailed to voters on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
